Course Description:
The finite element method is a powerful and versatile analysis tool, but its usefulness depends on meshing of domain. Meshing is process of converting CAD model of domain into small and simple pieces known as elements which are connected by nodes. The term "grid generation" or "discretization" is often used interchangeably. Meshing can be very time-consuming and error-prone if not done properly. In recognition of this problem, a large number of software packages have been developed to generate the suitable mesh for successful finite element analysis. This training enables participants to work on meshing packages. This course focuses on creating high-quality mesh in an efficient manner for accurate finite element analysis. This program offers the skills needed for end-to-end meshing process.
For someone embarking on FEA, or companies adopting FEA techniques for designs of new products, there is a steep learning curve to overcome. Moreover, there are complexities in terms of geometry cleanup, selecting element types and meshing methods that have to be learned. This is before engineers get down to the solution setup and understanding of engineering physics behind the problem. Due to various complexities involved in meshing, practical guidance is required on how to generate effective mesh faster to solve the real world problems. Therefore, this 5-day example driven course teaches practical approach to perform meshing on problems of industrial nature.
The concepts of the course are explained using hands-on approach and real world examples by highly experienced tutor. Effect of meshing attributes such as element type, shape, size and quality is explained through end-to-end FEA approach. The course offers excellent guidance for career in FEA & meshing by an industrial expert Dr. Dattatraya Parle. Towards end project ideas are discussed in the class to benefit all.
